Have purchased these sandals every summer since my 11 year old was 2-they are perfect every year. Now her little sister gets a pair every year too. So sad this will probably be the last year for the 11 year old since they stop at size 3.

I have twin daughters who are VERY tall for their age. And with this came long feet also. I very much dislike the styles for bigger girls/feet everywhere. I could not find any other sandals with the closed toe and white in their size since they moved up to Big Girls. Once you get out of a 12 usually, it's teenage style...YUCK. And I do not want my soon to be first graders wearing a fad ugly teeny bopper shoe. We also do not wear flip flops or any sandal with just a place for the toes to go between. We like the safer, more comfortable, and more conservative style of this shoe, that matches beautifully with most outfits . I went to the Striderite store, but they were out of almost every size in this shoe, so I ordered online. The staff in the store, and the online "help" were not helpful in guiding me in the size. Although my daughters wear a 2 kids in regular shoes. Sandals are a different story. And I've always been told by others to always size down in sandals due to more of your feet "hanging out" and not being crammed into a fully closed shoe!?.That advice was correct in these sandals also. Shoes, such as Keds for the school year we are buying in 2-2 1/2 depending on the style. But for these, we bought a 1 1/2. And they still have a thumbs width space to grow. Luckily the straps can velcro tightly and stay secure. These shoes fit well around the heel too, otherwise we would of probably sent these back and went a 1/2 size smaller. Please remember this when ordering online. These are very well made sandals, and very comfy. They have a huge "cush" inside. Not cheaply made at all like a lot of other brands. They are the best made of any brand we've ever had. I would say, very worth the money.

Rated 2 out of 5Â by Taffy Fisherman style sandal, sole could be more durable
My daughter just turned 10. We only shop Stride Rite, she's only worn, Stride Rite and Keds for 10 years. Last year (2012) I purchased the Summer, a fisherman style shoe. I was attracted to it because if offered some protection for the front of the foot, and toes. I also liked the padded area on the heal strap and the convenience of the Velcro closure. The sole had good texture to provide traction. My daughter wore these for close to a year, before she out grew them. The soles had wear but not excessive. Between Jan. 2013 and June 2013 I have purchased 2 pair of these same shoes, and the soles have completely worn out...the first pair in 42 days. Same kid, same activities, same type of usage as the 2012 pair got. It's June and I'm going back for a 4th pair (3rd in 2013) BUT, these will only be dress sandals. STRIDE RITE, please change the sole back to a more durable rubber, the ones manufactured in 2013 not as durable as last year. My daughter is not hard on shoes, she grows out of them before she wears them out. I LOVE THIS Fisherman Style Sandal, I just wish the soles were more durable.

This sandal or similar style has been my go to for a few years. My daughter has a wide foot and high instep and we find these to be a good practical sandal with toe protection. They can be worn with or without socks. Plus, if we buy early in the season, we use them for Easter!

My daughter loves these shoes. She can wear them with a dress or on a trip to the park. I love that they are a closed-toe sandal. Very comfortable and durable. Great purchase!
