I set out to find an all-leather Sperry boat shoe for my 11 year old son but struck out. This shoe is a perfect alternative for summer and is going to look great with nice shorts and a polo shirt for church and dress up. My only complaint is that the wide width is not quite as wide as other Sperry boys' shoes. Compared to the Tevin (dusty buck) and Nathaniel (black dress shoe) the Bluefish is considerably more narrow. My son is very comfortable wearing a 6.5 W with dress socks in the other Sperry shoes, but there's no way he could wear socks with the Bluefish. Luckily, this is a summer shoe, so he can go sockless, so the shoe will work.

We have a sailboat and these are great summer shoes for our boys. We buy them each a pair every summer and they work well for running around the boat, and look nice at dinner with kakis or shorts. The boys also love that they don't have to wear them with socks!

I bought both my 6 yr old granddaughter and my 4 yr old grandson the same shoe...as they are pictured in both the boys and girls side of the advertisement. My granddaughter freaked at first because the box indicated "boys shoe". She did however try them on and loved them, i was looking for a cute/stylish brown shoe for fall with jeans..after she put them on she said they were very comfortable...she is still a little skeptical about her brother having the same shoe. They appear to be very well made and a sturdy shoe for play...we found that shoe laces are very stiff, but wetting them first and then tieing them helped loosen and make them more pliable, they have a great sole on them, non-skid and can be worn for dressy or casual which is a plus. i would recommend this shoe. They both have wide feet so i ordered wide but they are not as wide as the other styles at stride rite but fit well, and they do tend to run about 1/2 size small so order up 1/2 size.
